A Date With Cole
My very dear friend Fara is a violinist and put on a benefit concert last night for her synagogue. Cole and I went to watch her wonderful performance! Cole was so well behaved the whole time, I was so proud of him. After hearing her I was motivated to get my kids into playing an instrument at an early age-I wish I could play or at least read music. It's such an amazing thing to know and to teach a child, we need to get on it soon for Cole while he's still excited about learning!!! Any suggestions on a good instrument to start with for a little guy-we don't have a piano...

I love that they are "fancy"!!!
ReplyDeleteI would suggest violin as a beginning instrument. They come in a variety of sizes so they will work for the younguns. Most of my violinists in my classes started when they were in kindergarten to 1st grade. (I asked around for you today, hehe) The other 1st instrument that a lot of them had in common was piano. While most of my students have pianos at home some of them went to lessons and practiced at home on an electronic keyboard. When we were in school we started learning on a song flute and recorder. I then moved on to the clarinet after that. Song flutes are under $10 and Cole could easily play one now. They usually come with some easy to read music (Mary had a little lamb, Hot cross buns, etc.)
