Kid Fest at the Park

Some local companies put on a community event for preschoolers and their families on Sunday. So the boys and I headed over to check it out and met up with some fiends.

Brady didn't realize Elmo would be this huge-this is as close as he'd get. Cole wanted nothing to do with any of the characters there, he wouldn't even wave from far away?? Braving the water-FREEZING!!

Brady spotted Spider man from far away and wanted to give him a hug
Doing Bubbles with Aubrey and Addison
The Bean Bag Toss
They are such little cheaters- look how close they are to the buckets! The lady was nice and still let them have a lollipop prize even though they made their own rules for this game

Leilani, Brady & Cole

The Kaiser Permanente Heart that Brady could not get enough of- we had to go back and high-five it like 3 times
Cole with the Iguanas

The Drama after I took this picture...........
The kids had been handing me wrappers and flyer's etc. to carry and since I didn't want to lug around a stroller or bag I had put some cash into my shorts pocket in case they wanted to buy something later. Well we came to the train ride which cost money- but guess what?? When I went to pull money out I realized that I emptied my pocket into the near by trash can about 2 min. before (my money went into the can too!) So after calling myself an idiot I asked my sister to watch the kids for a second so I could go back to the trash and see if it was visible. The money was gone! But when I got back to tell the kids that they couldn't ride the train because their mom threw away the $$ I looked down and a lady at the booth next to where they were standing had given Cole a huge Snickers Bar (aaaahhhhhh) Cole has a peanut allergy!!!!! I literally threw down the candy grabbed both kids and sprinted to my car-where I had no purse, so no epi-pen/benadryl. So as Cole broke out in hives, started swelling around his eyes and thew up all over himself on the way home (I only live about 2 miles from this park) I tried to run other people off the road in order to get him his meds before he went into anaphylactic shock. We got the benadryl into his system and after a few more throw up incidence in the kitchen the hives went away and he was okay. I am always so careful about bringing his medication- but as I now learned I cannot ever get lazy with it- even if it means I am a pack horse the meds come with us ALWAYS!! And I learned to make sure I don't walk away from him without knowing that whoever is watching him has been reminded of his allergy- when you don't have a kid with food allergies you just forget sometimes. Be grateful if you don't have to deal with being the outspoken mom always needing to know how all goodies were made-it feels so rude when I have to stop someone from handing Cole a cookie or cupcake and ask what's in it all the time.
PS-this is the same park Brady broke his leg at- I don't think we are ever going back there again! And thank God I came back when I did because that reaction happened from him eating all of two bites off the Snickers Bar- I don't even want to think about how aweful that day could have been had he eaten the whole thing.
