I am now coaching his Under 6 Boys soccer team, not something I really signed up for but I am enjoying every minute of it just the same. Long story short....there was no coach for this team until the league emailed the families and notified them of a refund since there was no coach, so a nice fam. stepped in so their kid could play but they know nothing of soccer at all and so when Cole was signed up (about 3 weeks late because we are slackers and weren't sure if we could handle the commitment this fall with two little ones who can't play) ......I proceed to open my big mouth and offer to help out.....this is followed by the "old coach" telling the kids to "say hello to Coach Jill everyone!" so there you have it, I am now the coach to what is likely the most lost and confused team in the league. I wish I could turn back the clock and have more time to practice with these guys, I only had 3 practices with them before the first game so we are still learning.
coaching at this level as you can see from the pic above is very hands on, I sprint up and down the field and ref. one side while the other coach does the same thing on the opposite side. There is inevitably a shoe untied, someone crying, a goalie trying to climb the net, someone walking off the field, kids trying to wrestle etc. at any given time in these 40 minute games!
It is pretty cute :)
Cole is dead center in the pic. below
My man Cole is wearing my old jersey number 17!! I may have nudged him toward this number just a tad, but I couldn't help myself! I am so proud of my little guy and having him in my old # makes it that much more exciting to watch!
