Brett and I decided that since we are moving and will have NO babysitters for a long time...we needed one last quick weekend trip to SD to spend some time with Nick and Carly.
clearly it is daytime and we are seated at a bar...this became a trend all day on Saturday, and on into Saturday night. Let's just say that it ended with two girls (who shall remain unnamed) being told "no, you cannot ride the mechanical bull....you can't even fill out the waiver form yourself" Yeah, yeah, I know. We are getting too old for this scene but I am certain that Brett, Nick, Carly and me will remember that day for a LONG time!
Sunday was FANTASTIC!!!! Car and I hiked Torrey Pines and saw the beach while Brett and Nick were golfing. In the afternoon, we went to Del Mar to meet up with Carly's parents who were in town celebrating their anniversary. Love this family!
On Monday Nick and Carly had to work so B and I went for a walk around the city, had some coffee (which is always nice to drink a cup of coffee with my husband that is not in a hurry or interrupted by someone needing something from me)
Next we went and saw the aircraft carrier...what a neat experience!
Later the plan was to get dressed and go out to dinner with the Carter's before we left for the airport. So we got ready and headed to cocktail hour overlooking the bay via taxi. This is where the trip got "interesting" Brett realizes as we go to pay for our drinks that his wallet is missing. Brett left it on the backseat of the taxi....yup we just about died! Turns out I am a genius and remembered the serial number on the cab, so after calling about 1,000 diff. people, dispatchers, etc. We missed dinner, and went to beg the airport to let Brett load our plane with NO ID at all! After a while the actual Cab driver, Ali, who might be our new best friend called my phone and had the wallet intact...he drove it to the airport for us and we had the wallet in hand with about 45 minutes to spare before the plane left. Still can't believe we got it back.....we say it's good karma!
All in all it was a lovely weekend, just wish it didn't end with that drama. One of the best parts!! I got to meet baby LUCY! I kind of wanted to steal her! Love this face!
