RUGER October 2005-June 2012

I have been dreading this post, I didn't think it would be as hard as it has been for our family to say goodbye to our Ruger Dog.  His loss was completely sudden and unexpected and very difficult to process after such a long journey.  Ruger's stomach turned (a condition known commonly as bloat) it only takes about two hours to happen and is fatal if it cannot be reversed.

I know everyone says this but he was the best dog ever!  From the day I picked him up from the airport until the end he was loyal and very mellow.  The only thing that could get him excited was a cat or a small dog...he would not hurt them but wanted to drool, sniff and bark at them at all times!

Walking around with Ruger was sort of like escorting a celebrity.  He got sooo much attention from people no matter where we went.  Not many Bloodhounds in Nor Cal and people could never get over just how big he was or how big his ears were!  For most people he was the first bloodhound they'd seen aside from seeing them on TV.  He loved the attention.

We are sure going to miss having him around, it doesn't feel like home without our Ruger.
